Nice Time Off
The weather has been cooling down every day by a few degrees so today's high will just be low 90s. What a wonderful relief. We've been going for a bike ride every morning while the coffee brews and then sitting outside in our cozy corner enjoying the cool breeze and breakfast.
Yesterday we were pampered by Naomi and Brad who invited us over for spaghetti dinner. Renee, Tom and Hilly were there too so it was a little party. Evan had to show us his train track building skills and he didn't want any advice from his Grandpas. He's learning about jokes so I asked him what you do if you hurt your toe....call a toe truck of course. He giggled and then was able to retell the joke later.
Little did I know that son Jim broke his toe yesterday. Big owie. Not much you can do with a broken toe but tape it to another toe and hope it heals quickly. I doubt Jim would appreciate the toe joke :)
Evan is also starting to play games so we did a round of FISH. The most fun for him was telling us to "go fish!" Someone called me Joan while we were playing and Evan said, "She's not Joan, she's Nana!" We could not convince him otherwise.
The spaghetti was great, with sauce cooked in the crockpot all day. We devoured the whole pot along with two loaves of french bread, salad and topped it off with brownies and icecream. Thanks kids!
I'm managing to keep occupied with FarmTown, Angels baseball, scanning pictures and reading. I remodeled my farm which took a lot of hours, sometimes tedious but I enjoyed it. The Angels are struggling currently to maintain their lead in the division. It seems they can't have good pitching and hitting at the same time. Not much more baseball left so I've got to enjoy it all while I can.
My picture scanning seems to me like it will never be done! I'm doing 1987 pictures which is the time frame for grandbabies being born. So the pix are fun to scan....lots of great memories. Maybe I should post a golden oldie here once in awhile.

Isn't it amazing what just 10 degrees can do? I love it when the cooling begins!!
This week in Chelan has been absolutely perfect - warm, sunny days, cool nights, no wind, a campground with lots of grass and trees - but our spot is satellite friendly. We've needed some down time from family and friends! Before we go visit the other (always problem-filled) kid. Speaking of, his barely 18-yr-old dau apparently washed out of boot camp. I'm heartbroken about it & really, really hope she didn't self-implode & cause it herself, which would not be unusual for her - but she really appeared to want this. The army finally requested old medical records which show prior treatment for depression, etc.; the story her dad got from her is that they are rejecting her based on a "pre-existing medical" condition. But that phone call was almost 2 weeks ago - she said she didn't know how long it would take to process the papers. This kid has had lots of problems for years. The Army was a chance to start over. Oh, well.
And yes, publish some golden oldie photos!
