Joan on the Road

I was watching the Angels/Rays game last night on the computer with MLB.TV and in the 7th inning the video stream stopped.So I tried a few times to restart but no dice. Jim's computer access slowed to a painful crawl as did mine. Finally, after trying all the fixes we knew, we gave up and watched a movie.

Still the same this morning. And then as Jim checked all the DataStorm data and checked in at the DataStorm users group he found we had been fapped. Shame on us! Seems we only have available to us 375 MB of download in a 24 hour period. If we exceed that our access speed is chopped to little over dial up :( It's called Fair Access Policy...FAP. The ball game was in HiDef and took up more bits (421) than the other games I've watched.

So the DataStorm User Group has a software download called FAP Monitor to help manage the downloads so one doesn't get into trouble. Jim says he'll download that and then we can try estimating if we can safely watch a game. Hope it works because having our download speed throttled is unacceptable. I'd have to give up the games :(

On another note...we had a lovely, delicious brunch cooked up by daughter Laura and Steve. On the menu--Eggs Benedict with Spinach smothered in Laura's delicious Hollandaise Sauce and French Press Coffee. Steve served as her assistant and he actually cooked up the sauce.

We let the brunch settle in then took a short walk with the doggies, Charlie and Jack. It was just warm enough to sit outside in the sun for awhile and do nothing...just enjoy Mother's Day!
