Boy Oh Boy! Are we ever enjoying the warmer weather. Shorts, sitting outside with a beer! Wonderful! This good weather came just in time for us to have a little visitor. Naomi called and needed emergency baby-sitting because Evan had a runny nose and watery eyes. Day care said he had pink eye and could not stay. So Evan came to visit on Thursday afternoon and all day Friday. It is now Monday morning and I'm still recovering. I'm not kidding!
This little 2 year old never stopped moving until he was so exhausted he had a little temper tantrum and fell asleep in my lap. Imagine...in a motorhome with no toys, just all the gadgets of the coach. He found a key in the "junk box", climbed up in the driver's seat and tried to put the key in the ignition. Course I was watching all this and laughing so I stopped him in time.
Outside he wanted to go for walks, play in the rocky ground cover and then, of course, throw the rocks. Well that had to stop. Grandpa went to Target and bought him a little soft bat and ball. We all tried pitching and batting and chasing the ball.
Evan was batting, I was pitching and he hit the ball about 30'.. smack dab under the 5er next to us! Yikes! How do we get the ball out? Well the only thing that could get under there was the little guy :) So he bent down, walked under the coach like a soldier on maneuvers, got the ball and came back out with me all the time saying, "Watch your head!"
We spent an hour at the park playing on the playground toys and he ran so much that he volunteered to leave, he was so pooped. We watched a few segments of "SpongeBob SquarePants" and a penguin movie called "Cody". That was relaxing for both of us:)
Even though he kept us on the run we had such a great time seeing him in action, watching him figure things out and communicating with him. He kept wanting to go in the street or see the neighbors so we had to firmly say, "Evan, stop! Come back here!" At one point he turned, looked at us firmly, pointed a finger and said, "Listen mister, You're in time out!" Now how could we keep a straight face?
