Organizing and Compacting

We are always looking at ways to cut down on what we carry so during these cool, rainy winter days we're cleaning storage and I got back to scanning slides.

I got out the Nikon Coolscan on Sunday and have scanned another 100 or so slides to my external hard drive. It's a slooooow process. Each slide scan takes about 2 minutes. But it's a wondrous process! Now the slide is digitized and availalbe for fixing and sharing. It's also an emotional process as I recall lots of family memories and milestones. This week I've been living in 1977, the year we moved from Illinois to CA with our three teenagers. It was an exciting but difficult and traumatic time.

A couple of weeks after we made the move we took off for a camping trip to Yosemite...living it up in CA! Here's a funky photo I scanned yesterday. That's me and Half Dome. This shot is very blue so I played around with the color a little but I really like the effect of this one.

Of all the natural wonders we've seen Half Dome is my all time favorite.

Jim has been trying to sell our Little Giant ladder as we don't need it and it takes up vital space. He's had a few nibbles from Craig's List and posted here in the park. He paid over $400 for it and wants $200. Oh well...if it doesn't sell it can go in storage. One day we'll have to have a yard sale from the storage unit :)...or buy a bigger motorhome!
