Keeping Busy
We've decided to stay here in Hemet for another month because I need a pinkie checkup in a couple of weeks. When we arrived here in November we had a long list of things to accomplish. We still have a long list. We decided last night that we'd better do one thing a day or we'll wind up with nothing done....except all the things that are not on the list :)
For example, I've spent a lot of time watching my lily blossoms open up. I mean I could almost see the petals moving. Should have taken time-lapse pictures. You saw a blossom picture a few days ago and now there are four open. This bouquet has given me lots of pleasure :) Thanks to Renee and family.
Then I've been lost in China with Amy Tan reading The Kitchen God's Wife. Her books are so descriptive, the characters so well developed. I love reading books that take me away to another place and time. Almost like traveling :) Next in my book stack is Amy's Saving Fish from Drowning. Yesterday for a break I read Julie & Julia...a true story about a stressed out 29 year old who takes on the daunting task of cooking her way through Julia Child's Mastering the Art of French Cooking. It's a fun read if you're into cooking at all.
Finally, I decided that crocheting would be good finger therapy (it is) so I whipped out another skinny scarf for someone special. This is the fourth one and I still have a few more recipients on my list, including myself. I love making this scarf because it's quick, creative, cozy, and stylish. It's about 5' long and wraps around the neck a few times.
I got the free pattern from the Lion Brand Yarn site where I signed up for the newsletter and get weekly patterns and ideas. I've got enough downloaded to keep me busy for a few years :)
Yesterday we bought a set of martini glasses and indulged in an afternoon cocktail hour. We never had dinner. Today the glasses will get packed away otherwise we'll never get anything on the list done :)
