I Love February
It's my birthday month and Valentines Day so if I get flowers for both occasions I can be in flower heaven....and that's what happened. The lily bouquet is down to half-size and still beautiful. Then a dozen roses arrived on the day before Valentines. They are awesomely beautiful. Sometimes you get roses that are just buds and they never open. But these tight buds are slowly opening to perfect red roses. Jim got them online from ProFlower and they're "guaranteed" to be perfect. They came in a beautiful red vase so they don't have to be displayed in the juice pitcher:) Only downer is that they don't smell. Wonder why that has happened? Anyway, with a little luck I can keep the birthday celebrations going for a little longer.
Jim and I had a conversation about the commercialism of Valentines Day earlier in the week. I told him he should never worry about getting me something because I always know he loves me. "OK, I didn't get you anything anyway," he said. Right....here comes the FedEx guy. Jim knows how to keep me happy:)
This morning I got a 7 AM phone call and almost turned over and said...must be an east coast telemarketer. But it niggled at me so I got up and saw Naomi had called. I dialed her back..."Oh Grandma! I got to daycare and Evan has a bit of a temperature and they won't let him stay. Can he possibly come stay wilth you for a few hours?" Could I refuse? :)
So we had a really fun morning with the baby. We don't have any toys for him to play with so he "read" our books, played with little purses filled with trinkets, putting things in and out, snuggled with me and watched Sesame Street, nibbled at some food, took a walk and charmed the neighbors and finally took a nap. I was very pleased with how well he adapted to the situation and how much fun we had. We counted things and everything was "two". He jabbered and pointed and somehow communicated what he wanted. His vocabulary is full of "uh oh, what's that, where is it, binky, cookie, please, thank you, go, bye bye, grandpa and yummy".
We needed a nap after he left. He really kept us hopping up and down. Naomi called later after his doctor appointment and he has ear infections so she'll be home with him tomorrow. Days like today make me happy that we've hung around here this long. I get itchy feet to be moving on but a visit from Evan cures that :)
